Robotics

Pat & Suzanne Hermes, Instructors

This program is offered to students in grades 4-8. It meets after school once a week and some Saturdays. The program is sponsored by the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and introduces students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.  Elementary and middle-school students get to:

  • Design, build and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology
  • Apply real-world math and science concepts
  • Research challenges facing today’s scientists
  • Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
  • Participate in tournaments and celebrations

Gymnastics

Brian Gallagher, Instructor at Gallagher’s Gymnastics & Cheerleading
Children develop their fundamental movement skills between the ages of two and five.  Gallagher’s Gymnastics is dedicated to provide children with the proper and positive gymnastic training.  With our exclusive gymnastics curriculum, Gallagher’s on the Go! Our little participants will not only advance their tumbling skills, but accelerate their learning abilities.  Classes meet:  K5 Tuesdays 2:15 – 2:45; PreK3/4 Fridays 12:45-1:15 in CCS Gym Classroom.

Knitting Club

Ann Bingham, Instructor
Club meets on Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00pm.  Ages 4th – 8th grades in CCS Office mailroom.

Martial Arts

Cameron & Heather Skinner, Instructors
This program meets Wednesdays 3:15 – 4:00.  The class is offered to students PreK3 – 1st grade.  The class is held in the CCS Gym Classroom.

Pilates Kids

Jodi Rutherford, Instructor
A Pilates program designed exclusively for kids, and based on the Pilates Method Alliance Manuel of Guidelines and Curriculum for Children and Adolescents.  This class will introduce children to Pilates principles in a fun and safe environment.  Pilates can help children manage stress and improve both their body and mind fitness.  Improving core strength through Pilates can benefit children in other sporting endeavors.  This is appropriate for children ages 6 & up.  Meets in CCS Gym Classroom once a week.

Strategy Club

Michael Hagans, Instructor
Strategy Club is a time for learning logic, wisdom, and good sportsmanship for students from 4th grade through 12th. We use board games to learn such strategic ideas as planning, knowing your opponent as well as yourself, knowing your own strengths and weaknesses, and focusing on what is important rather than getting lost in the minutiae. Learning from our mistakes, congratulating our opponents, being gracious in victory, and having the versatility to change our plans when they are upset by others, are all important in Strategy Club. Logic is highly emphasized. In other words, we aim to put into practice Jesus’ command to be wise as serpents, yet harmless as doves.  Club meets on Fridays after school.

Zumba Kids

Casey Clark, Instructor

Designed exclusively for children, Zumba Kids classes are high-energy fitness packed with specially choreographed, kid friendly routines and all the music children love. The class is recommended for girls age 6 and up.  Meets in CCS Gym Classroom once a week.
